Stefanie Lindeman

Founder & Sole Proprietor

(she/her/hers)

Over the course of 20 years of varied professional experience, Stefanie Lindeman has accumulated many useful skills. As an attorney, she excelled at making complex, abstract ideas understandable to normal people. She also developed a strong sense of diplomacy as well as boundless patience for navigating challenging relationships and arcane rules. Working for a New York City agency and in small nonprofit organizations, she learned to effectively leverage limited resources—both financial and human—to accomplish what at first seemed like unreachable goals. She has cultivated and managed relationships with funders, nonprofit board members, clients, and contractors; supervised employees and wrangled bosses; and worked on or led countless teams and committees. Like anyone who has made their career working for small to medium-sized nonprofit organizations, she has worn many different hats—often in a single day.

After earning her JD from St. John’s University School of Law, Stefanie joined the litigation department of a large New York City law firm. Halfway up the ladder to partnership, however, she left law practice in search of more soul-satisfying work. At the age of 31, she started over as an intern with the Children’s Defense Fund-NY, where she worked 20 to 30 hours a week—for no pay—supporting the Associate Director of Development. Thus began Stefanie’s professional commitment to the public good, which she retains in her work as an independent consultant. In-house and as a consultant, she has worked in fields such as education reform, community health and healthcare access, and criminal justice reform.

Stefanie brings three key things to every client engagement: optimism; humor; and a deep love of a well-organized project plan.
